bubblegeneration: The First Law of Post-Branding. "Now, the information asymmetry that dominated consumer industries - that marketers knew more about their products than isolated, atomized consumers - hasn't just vaporized, it's been reversed: consumers often know a lot more about many the real-world performance of products than the firms that make them do."
bubblegeneration: Plasticity and Post-Branding Mini Case Study - Spotrunner. "
This is a perfect example of one the way in which microchunking unlocks distributed scale economies - through the reuse and recominbation of microchunks. Spotrunner can be hyperefficient not just because it allows access to buying distribution online, but because it microchunks ads, letting them be rebundled - and so reused - making Spotrunner a far more efficient economic solution to buying ads than anything else in it's strategic group."
InternetWorld:
ClickZ: Marketing Spend Shifting to Below-the-line. "The shift in marketing spend from mass media branding efforts to targeted, direct response marketing, including interactive marketing, is happening faster than some might expect, according to a new study by Winterberry Group."
Software Only: Online ad spending to remain strong in 2006 - Growth conservatively pegged at 24%. "Agencies expect pricing to increase 15%-20% for high-demand inventory"
K-märkt: Siffror från musikindustrin 2005. "Den totala skivförsäljningen fortsatte gå ner med 2 % 2005." Men det beror inte bara på piratkopiering, enligt EMI:s chef: ""Twenty years ago there were no mobile phones, no DVDs, no computer games to speak of,". IMHO.
Pew: Generations online. "Internet users ages 12 to 28 years old have embraced the online applications that enable communicative, creative, and social uses. Older users are more likely to engage in online activities that require some capital: travel reservations and online banking. Tables comparing how different generations' use the internet are included in this data memo." [via: myMarkup]
A VC: Pandora vs Last.fm. "Last.fm is great. It requires a number of things from you. First, that you listen to a lot of music on your computer. If you don't there is no way for last.fm to capture your music listening data. Second, that you download the plugin so that they can in fact capture your music listenting data. And third, that you are interested in an online social experience for discovering music."
